It has been reported that Manchester City have agreed a fee for the services of French left back Benjamin Mendy, which is believe to be in excess of £51 million.
The young left back (23) joined Monaco last summer after signing from Marseille. He managed a total 34 games for the club in a season that saw them stomp the French league, securing their first League 1 title in 17 years.
Provided the deal goes through, the fee will eclipse the gargantuan sum of £45 million coughed up for right back Kyle Walker from fellow Premiership side Tottenham, as well as the £47.5 million City paid for John Stones last summer.
Mendy is set to become the Manchester side’s fourth major signing of the window, budging the total spend above £175 million. He will join Walker, Silva and Ederson as Pep continues to strengthen his resolve.
