South Africa’s Branden Grace has become the first man ever to score a 62 in a major tournament. After holing 8 birdies in a bogey-free third round today at The Open at Royal Birkdale, he beat the previous best of 63 which had been recorded a total 31 times.
“This is momentous”, stated former Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie, “The day Grace broke the unbreakable record”.
Grace still has some work to do however as he trails behind Jordan Speith with a -7, but nevertheless this will be a day to remember.
