Apple’s watchOS software is a key component in the success of the technology giants Apple Watch, with the wearable tech leaps and bounds ahead of competitors offerings. With that being said, there are always improvements that can be made and it seems a though Apple has addressed them with the upcoming release of watchOS 4, set to include a plethora of new features.
The first to cast our eye upon is a brand new watch face that comes with Siri engrained. Tapping on the top left of the display will present you with more details courtesy of the personal assistant itself. Some of the capabilities include calendar notifications, reminders, as well as a host of features from apps such as breath, maps, wallet, activity, alarms and more. All of this at the touch of a button.
Whether or not it’s your thing, another new watch face will be included that feature Woody, Jessie and Buzz Lightyear from Disney’s Toy Story. I’ll probably be steering clear of these like the Mickey and Minnie watch faces – not the most masculine.
Also in the update will be some upgrades to the workout and activity apps. The latter will lay host to monthly challenges as well as intelligent coaching, which Apple says will allow you to reach your goals faster.
With regards to the workout app, you will now be able to switch easily between workouts and exercises as well as record and track information more simply.
Whats more, the Apple Music app on the Watch will be able to automatically sync your music as soon as you get the music. This man you can get Apple Music playlists such as New Music Fix, Favourites Mix, and your mot listened to music all downloaded right onto the watch itself.
The Californian company is also bringing native core Bluetooth with the rollout of watchOS 4, allowing you to pair accessories with your watch as opposed to your phone. Preach. Now you can leave your iPhone in the locker whilst you let your watch control your music during a workout.
Person to person payments can also now be made using Apple Pay on the watch. This is set to come as a part of the upgrades within iOS 11 so stay tuned for more information on that.
